We have recently completed a project for Lightwater Valley Theme Park after producing finished parts to replace the ones already in use throughout the park.
Following consultation and production the parts were shipped out to the customer in time for them to be installed well in advance of the parks opening on April 1st. “With over 30 rides and attractions for all ages, Lightwater Valley in Ripon, North Yorkshire, is bursting with fun and adventures for the whole family”
The client approached Plastic Mouldings Northern as they were looking for someone who could produce a cover which bolts to the main body around the flange, similar to the existing part but something a bit softer. The cover was currently made from fibreglass, which was very hard. They were looking for something with the same integrity but much softer.
Following discussions Plastic Mouldings Northern recommended a 4mm HDPE material to create the 300mm x 250mm x 225mm deep covers. High-density polyethylene, known as HDPE, is used for the manufacture of products that require greater strength and rigidity. It is easy to fabricate and weld and can also be thermoformed. It is widely used in the production of such things as; chemical tanks, chopping boards for food preparation and outdoor and indoor playgrounds.
Once the finished parts were moulded, they were cut to the precise shape and measurements with our in-house CNC machines. Our 5 axis CNC machining centre complements our range of plastic vacuum forming machines. Designed specifically for the machining of thermoformed and composite components, our MAKA CNC gives us the ability to consistently finish complex mouldings, in a fraction of the time required by manual methods.
If you’re brave enough to take on the longest rollercoaster in Europe – The Ultimate, which has a ride time approaching six minutes, be sure to keep an eye out for the finished parts we have produced while walking around the park.
